Meet 15 year old #BreshaMeadows
Breesha Meadows has been in jail for the last 9 months for killing her abusive father, 41-year-old #JonathanMeadows
Bresha’s mother, #BrandiMeadows and her aunt Martina Latessa repeatedly said that Jonathan Meadows was a violent man who, for years, physically, psychologically and emotionally abused Bresha’s siblings and her mother. “In the 17 years of our marriage, he has cut me, broke my ribs, fingers, the blood vessels in my hand, my mouth, blackened my eyes. I believe my nose was broken,” Brandi Meadows said in a police report. “If he finds us, I am 100 percent sure he will kill me and the children. … My life is like living in a box he created for me, and if I stepped out of that box, he’s there to put me back in that box.” Breesha was facing life with no parole at one point as the state pondered whether or not to try her as an adult.
On Monday, she accepted a deal pleading to involuntary manslaughter and it set to be released early next year.
In a deal with prosecutors, Bresha, now 15 years old, pleaded guilty on Monday to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to a year and one day in juvenile detention, six additional months in a private mental health facility and two years’ probation.
Since Bresha has been behind bars for nine months, her lawyer says she will only serve two more months in juvenile detention before being moved to the treatment facility.
Question…Should we punish victims of domestic abuse?? 👀👀👀👀👀 If proof of her father’s abuse on the family has been proven, why is she still being detained??
