New York City, you are now filing with 50 Cent. And you gotta love it.
Strolling the offices of The Daily News Wednesday, rapper 50 Cent took command of the paper’s “Confidenti@l” gossip column, barking orders at staffers and making tough editorial decisions, like what bikini shots to run.
“People, people!” shouted the Queens-bred MC, sporting a black flat-brim baseball cap with the word “EDITOR” printed across the front. “I’m just coming to check to make sure the morale is still good in the room. You guys are awfully quiet. Is there no news taking place in New York City?”
50 also gave some business tips, imploring the paper to publish more photos of him to help boost ad revenue, and sat in on an editorial meeting before participating in a live Q&A session with fans.
Despite announcing Wednesday that he has a new album in the works with Eminem, 50 Cent seems to have found his true calling.
“Do you know how much influence the Daily News has?” he said. “Look, if you make it to the Daily News and you ain’t got on handcuffs, you made it.”
50 Cent has also got enough love for all the ladies in Hollywood.
Confidenti@l’s celebrity editor spilled details on who caught his eye at the Golden Globes on Sunday, saying of Scarlett Johansson, “Look, no one cares that you’re married.”
Fiddy, who was in the office with us playing boss for the day, said he was struck by “how hot” the “Captain America: Winter Soldier” actress looked at a SoHo House Golden Globes bash, and marveled how people were lined up to tell her how attractive she is.
“I had the luxury of not taking any precautions,” he laughed. “Scarlett’s in that snap-back phase. Meaning just after a baby, her body snapped right back. She was hot, real super-short haircut. Some girls have that long, pretty, beautiful, elegant haircut. She’s got that ‘Oh, your head is pretty too, thing.’ ”
When we inquired if her French journalist husband, Romain Dauriac, was with her, Fiddy smiled and told us, “he was not.”
“In Hollywood, husband means ‘my serious boyfriend,’ ” he said.
Fiddy, whose show “Power” was coincidentally filming outside The News’ FiDi offices, also weighed in on Gayle King, saying he noticed at the Golden Globes that the CBS anchor and Oprah Winfrey’s BFF has a “nice ass.”
“Gayle has a real nice body,” he said, adding that the two snapped plenty of pics while out and about in L.A.
On Jennifer Lopez, he said the triple-threat performer is “consistent” and looked great in her Zuhair Murad sequined number, with its dangerously low V and thigh-high slit.
“She had babies, and comes back with more booty,” he said. “Goddamn. She’s 45? Is her s— all natural? We need a blood test.”
And 50’s love for Melissa McCarthy is strong. He says McCarthy, who stars in the upcoming “Spy,” in which 50 plays himself, made him laugh the whole time. Plus, he digs her look.
“Bigger is better, baby,” he told us. “She made me laugh just being around her during “Spy.” We filmed in Budapest with Jude Law and Jason Statham.”
On his comedian ex, Chelsea Handler, he says, “Me and Chelsea are good friends. In one word, ‘gator.’ It’s a sexual description, like wrestling an alligator.”
As for that Leonardo DiCaprio photo bomb during a pre-Globes party last week, Fiddy tells us partying with the A-lister “involves no pressure.”
Asked to elaborate, he explained: “You don’t worry. If there’s 20 women there (waiting for him), be patient. You have to be like, ‘Give her a moment to let her go through what she’s going through. Then the real situation sets in. There are 20 women excited by Leo and before the party is over, they realize they can’t all have him. ”
Gotta love him in real life… musicality? Meh not so much
